Case Studies and Adoption Kits Awarded LGU programs are documented to serve as material for promotion and adoption of cross-cutting development themes – agriculture, environment, gender and development, health, peace and development, local finance. These materials form part of the GP e-Library knowledge products, compiled and published in a casebook and rendered electronically. The publications are intended for public management schools as course materials of proven development initiatives that worked at the local level. GP e-Library The GP e-Library organizes and facilitates the management and sharing of Galing Pook knowledge products. It is designed to be more user-friendly and interactive web-based knowledge management support system. The enhanced GP website, a component of the GP e-Library, will have menu items with added features highly useful for development managers in both public and private institutions. Local chief executives and decision makers will particularly benefit from its interactive technical knowledge cache rendered in popular, useful and easy to access electronic rendition. Adoption Workshops Program Adoption Workshops are intended for both LGU winners and non-winners of the Galing Pook Awards Program who signified their willingness and exhibited their capacity to adopt a specific proven local government program relevant to their areas. Ideally, the workshop venue is held at the LGU where the program had originated and being sustained. Integral to the activity is the re-entry or the program adoption plans of the LGU participants. The Galing Pook Foundation also assists in bringing outstanding program implementers as resource persons and mentors to LGUs who organize their respective adoption workshops. Study Visits Observational Study Visits are on-site structured learning activities for more advanced LGUs who intend to adopt several proven practices in their respective localities. This involves cross visits to different LGUs with proven local development programs that are being sustained and are relevant to the LGUs participating in the study visits. The host LGUs provide their own local resource persons and consultants and with their localities as the learning laboratories. Policy Forums Policy forums are presentations and in-depth discussions on current pressing governance issues intended for decision-, opinion-, and policy-makers. Likely effective responses to governance concerns and issues may be gleaned from what had already been done or being done by local governments. Together with Policy Forums, other Galing Pook initiatives are intended to bridge together the local governments with outstanding practices, or the so-called “islands of good governance”, to create wider impact in terms of enjoining more and more LGUs to adopt and emulate proven local development practices. GP School of Government The GP School of Government is an intensive local development course for managers and decision makers of LGUs willing and capable of implementing selected development cases in significant development themes. Local chief executives who actually implemented the programs in each development case to be discussed shall be the lecturer or among the panellists in interactive case discussions "Ang Galing Mo, Mayor" Exemplary municipal governance practices of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) are showcased during LMP’s island-wide conference and assemblies in a forum aptly called, “Ang Galing mo, Mayor!”. Media Advocacy and Promotion Galing Pook recognizes that media plays a key role in promoting good local governance programs and exemplary practices. Feature articles and short stories will be released more systematically to effectively promote the good news in the field. |
