| The Galing Pook Foundation promotes innovative and excellent local governance programs that successfully address urgent social and economic problems. Since the inception of the Galing Pook Awards program in 1993, more than 200 exemplary LGU initiatives have already been recognized and conferred the distinctions. They are the models of good governance promoted for adoption to other communities replete with practical insights, strategies and innovative solutions to address common problems. The Galing Pook Foundation continues to broaden its network of partners in order to build a wider constituency for the recognition and documentation of exemplary local governance practices. It has excellent working relationship with 81 provinces, 110 cities and 1,505 municipalities in the country which is particularly crucial in the adoption of best practices by local governments and in the advocacy for good governance. Currently, the Galing Pook Foundation, with the Land Bank of the Philippines, facilitates the adoption and the advocacy at the higher level of the outstanding local government programs. Local government units are assisted in adopting proven relevant development initiatives as part of the overall thrust of promoting exemplary local governance. |
